Nokia unveiled new Smartphone lineup and simplified naming convention

Nokia-C5-4Today Nokia has unveiled the new Smartphone serices starting with C and their new naming standard of the devices. The first member of the C series is the Nokia C5. The new handset strives for simplicity, sticking to Symbian S60 3rd edition and is all about keeping connected with friends and family through all modern means of communication.

The design of the Nokia C5 is a personification of simplicity - bar form factor and standard phone keypad with big comfy-looking keys. The screen is 2.2" with QVGA (240X320) resolution. The Nokia C5 is aimed at the people who still prefer a regular phone, so no touching.

Finally iPad - the Tablet from Apple revealed

ipad-boxApple Inc CEO Steve Jobs took the wraps off a sleek tablet that it called the iPad, pitching the new gadget at a surprisingly low price to bridge the gap between Smart Phones and Laptops. Jobs took the stage at a packed theatre on 27th Jan'10 at Apple event to show off the 9.7-inch touch screen Tablet, which looks like a large iPhone, and to introduce a new iBook electronic reader service that will compete with Amazon.com Inc's Kindle. The iPad is Apple's biggest bet on a new product since the iPhone three years ago, and seeks to tap an unproven market for tablets. Analysts, while impressed by the iPad's seamless functionality, also pointed out that consumers already have Smart phones and Laptops for their mobile computing needs.

BCS City IT 2010

bcs1The fair season is still on. Just after finishing the "ZOOM Laptop Fair 2010". We are just ahead of another fair. The BCS (Bangladesh Computer Samity) are going to arrange the "City IT 2010". The fair will be inaugurated in 28th Jan'10 and gate will open till 6th Feb'10. BCS had arranged a press briefing on Tuesday at the Press Club and they talked elaborately about this year's fair. At the press conference high officials of the BCS and other officials of fair committee were present.

The officials of the fair committee informed; there will be 30 organizations beside the 157 organizations of Computer City will participate in the fair of this year. All the participants will offer special price and packages on this occasion. The fair premises will be under high speed WiMAX internet facility and the service will be available for the visitor for free charge. As per the expectation of the organizer there will be more than 150,000 visitors will be visited the fair. The fair will remain open every day in those 10 days from 10AM to 7PM. ASUS, Belkin, Brothers, Twinmos and View Sonic are the sponsor this year events.

 

ZOOM Laptop Fair 2010 ends with record sales

zoom-laptop-fair-2010The three-day laptop fair ended on Friday. Organizers claimed they achieved their goal of the fair of this year. 'Zoom Laptop Fair 2010' started in Dhaka on Wednesday at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, aiming to sell around 5,000 laptops. At least 30,000 people visited this year fair as the organizers note. In the previous two Laptop fairs the sells volume was 600 and 3,000 respectively. Both the fairs held in Chittagong. The fair of this year housed 15 pavilions and 5 stalls.

Internet in Bangladesh

In the early nineties, Bangladesh had access to email via dialup to Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) of a few local providers. The combined Internet users of all the email-only service providers were not more then 500. Users were charged by the kilobyte, and mail was transferred from the BBS service providers to the rest of the world by International dialup using UUCP (Unix to Unix Copy Protocol).
